FLOORING

What is the process of installing a polyaspartic garage floor?

1. Preparation: The installers will arrive and unload their equipment. They will fill up all cracks and divots in the concrete floor and then grind it to create a smooth, porous surface. Any dirt or debris will be removed, and the dust created by the grinding process will be vacuumed up.

2. Base coat: The first poly aspartic coat will be applied to the floor.

3. Color coat: A second coat of polyaspartic will be applied, and color flakes or chips will be broadcast into the wet material.

4. Topcoat: Once the poly aspartic has cured for about 2 hours, the installers will scrape off any excess chips and vacuum the floor again. A clear coat of polyaspartic will then be applied to the floor.

You must wait 24 hours before walking on the new floor or putting any items back in the garage.

How do I prep before installing?

Here is how to prepare your garage for a polyaspartic floor installation:

• Empty the garage completely. This means removing all vehicles, furniture, and other items.

• Do not wash the floors. The concrete needs to be completely dry for the polyaspartic to adhere correctly.

• Leave ample space on the driveway for the installation team’s truck and equipment. This will make it easier for them to access the garage and complete the installation process.

How long does it take to install it?

Most polyaspartic garage floor installations can be completed in one day. However, there are a few factors that can affect the installation time, including:

• Size of the garage: Larger garages will take longer to install.

• Weather: Colder weather can slow the curing process, while hot weather can make it difficult for the installers to work safely.

• Condition of the concrete: If the concrete floor is in poor condition, it may need to be repaired before the polyaspartic can be installed, which will increase the installation time.

• Special requests: If you have any special requests for your floor, such as a logo or multiple colors, this will also add to the installation time.

Your installation technician will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of the installation time after they have inspected your garage and discussed your specific needs.

What Maintenance is required on my new floor?

Polyaspartic garage floors are deficient Maintenance. They do not require any unique cleaning products or treatments. Here is a basic maintenance routine that you can follow to keep your poly aspartic garage floor looking its best:

• Sweep or mop the floor regularly to remove dirt and debris.

• Spot clean any spills or stains. You can use a damp cloth with a mild detergent.

• Hose down the floor and squeegee it dry once a year or as needed.

Golf cart owners with lead-acid batteries should be especially careful not to overfill the batteries or let acid drip onto the floor. If acid drips onto the floor, wipe it up immediately. If acid is left on the floor for an extended period, it can discolor the coating. The warranty does not cover this, but it is fixable.

Do you coat the sides of the garage where the concrete goes up?

Yes, DFW Garage Design will coat the side of the garage where the concrete goes up, also known as the stem wall. This is included in their standard garage floor coating installation.

Will the floor be slippery?

Yes, polyaspartic garage floors can be slippery when wet, especially if no anti-slip agent is added to the top coat. This is because polyaspartic is a smooth, glossy material.

If you are concerned about slipping, you can ask DFW Garage Design to add an anti-slip agent to the top coat. This will add texture to the floor and make it less slippery when wet. However, it is important to note that this will make cleaning the floor more difficult.

Even with an anti-slip agent, a polyaspartic garage floor will still be easier to clean than bare concrete. This is because polyaspartic is a non-porous material that does not absorb dirt and stains.

600lbs is the max capacity, making sure weight is evenly distributed.

Are the accessories interchangeable with all slatwalls?
